They stand out against the pale birch trunks rising behind them—three tall trees marked with black spots and rough white bark, familiar to aspen fans. Their smooth bark shows shifts of light, revealing not just their shape but their lively role in this quiet place.

In the background, thick evergreens line the water's edge, their deep green fading into shadows and catching bits of light reflected on the calm river flowing between rocky islands. This river winds through the scene like a gentle breath, moving softly but always, matching the surrounding nature with calm clarity.

Creating Happy Place was about capturing the clarity and refreshing views of that Colorado camping trip. Our aim was to pause, breathe, and absorb nature's effortless balance, using richly layered oil paints and textured brushwork to nourish the eye and calm the spirit.
